PENINSULA CENTURY REGISTRATION OPENS APRIL 1

Registration for the second annual Peninsula Century Ride opens April 1, 2014.

The ride will end at Sister Bay’s Waterfront Park Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014. The post-ride party will feature local chefs, the Door County Brewing Company, and music.

This picturesque ride through Northern Door County highlights routes on the northern tip of the county, past scenic shoreline, and taking on some challenging climbs on longer routes. Riders of all abilities can choose from routes of 25, 50, 62, and 100 miles.

The ride is organized by the Peninsula Pacers, the same organization that runs the tremendously successful Door County Half Marathon, the Ride for Nature to benefit the Ridges Sanctuary and the Door County Beer Festival.

The inaugural event drew 338 riders to Sister Bay in 2013 to enjoy a beautiful course and a post-ride meal matched by few races in the country.

Riders will feast on food from local restaurants, including homemade ice cream from the Door County Ice Cream Factory.

“We’re proud to highlight our local businesses and sponsors,” says organizer Brian Fitzgerald. “We’re also excited to showcase Sister Bay’s jewel of a park, which allows our riders to enjoy the festivities before patronizing the village shops and restaurants.

Family members can enjoy the beach, playgrounds, volleyball courts and water sports at the park, which is just steps from the Sister Bay Marina, village lodging, shopping, restaurants and bars.
